Biography
Beginning his youth days at Lasier Hill Academy, he joined Kenyan pro side Leopards in 2018 as a teenager before trialling with top European clubs including Juventus and Inter.
He signed for Red Star Belgrade in January 2019, and was later sent to Graficar Beograd in 2020 and then Metalac Gornji Milanovac in 2021, spending most of his stay in Serbia out on loan.
In August 2022 he moved to MLS side Philadelphia Union, eventually spending time with their reserve team followed by a loan spell at Danish club AaB. He arrived at United in the summer of 2025 on a two-year contract, with a club-held option of an additional year.
His time at Tannadice proved short in the end, unable to hold down a first team place despite adapting to positions in both midfield and defence, and his contract was terminated in September 2025.
Upon his departure, Richard had earned 25 caps for Kenya at international level, seven of which he won during his time with United.
