In what was one of the tamer Dundee derbies, we ran out comfortable winners, despite, once again, failing to produce our best form, the first half hour being a noticeable exception. Harnessing the wind advantage from the kick-off we immediately dictated play and Davie Dodds almost converted a Paul Sturrock cross in the first minute. Dundee certainly had more of the ball in the second period but rarely threatened Billy Thomson who had to wait until the 88th minute before being seriously tested. So United emerged victors in a game so vital in view of our League Title aspirations and Dundee's European ambitions.
