Derby matches have gone very much in our favour in recent years but this latest clash proved a notable exception as Dundee chalked up their biggest Premier win. We fell behind after only five minutes when Rab Shannon’s cross was met by Graham Harvey whose looping header evaded Billy Thomson's outstretched arm to enter the net via the underside of the bar. We just didn't get going in the first half but almost got back on level terms on the stroke of half-time. Eamonn Bannon charge in on goal was curtailed by McGeachie on the edge of the box but Ian Redford's free-kick went over the bar.
Following the interval we were much more purposeful. The 52nd minute brought the game's turning point. Eamonn Bannon picked up the ball in midfield and unleashed a low twenty yarder which Geddes brilliantly tipped round the post. Ten minutes later Thomson did well to deflect a Jack. Shot to safety but Billy couldn't hold the return and Shannon eventually found the net after pouncing on the loose ball. Graham Harvey scored Dundee's third with six minutes to go.
