A last minute goal by Paul Sturrock enabled us to sneak a point and draw level with Celtic at the top of the table. Tynecastle has become a difficult place for any side to win at, with Hearts unbeaten on their own patch for some 17 months. Conditions weren't easy with a blustery wind causing difficulties. After some early pressure by us, Hearts came into the game with Wayne Foster and Gary Mackay both having good efforts before John Colquhoun's dipping volley put them ahead. The home side looked set for interval lead when we struck. Jim McInally instigated the move with a pass out to Iain Ferguson on the right, Iain's cross into the middle was miskicked by Brian Whittaker and Paul Sturrock wheeled to hammer the ball into the roof of the net via the arms of Henry Smith.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first. Hearts pressing hard but finding it hard to find a way through the United rear guard. A penalty award for a foul on Sandy Clark gave Hearts the chance to go ahead again. Gary Mackay did the business from the spot. With the clock ticking down, Paul Sturrock grabbed a late equaliser to send the Arabs home happy.
