Match Report

With no less than five changes from the eleven that started the match at Pittodrie we certainly didn't let the many changes in personnel affect our rhythm as we dominated the opening half hour. Paul Kinnaird, making his league debut was very prominent early on and after 9 minutes he picked up a loose ball on the left. scampered to the bye-line 'before flashing across' a hard low cross which Auld, under pressure from Ferguson, crashed into his own net.

With Jim Gallacher displaying his now customary miracles against us, we struggled to add to that lead. In the 50th minute Ferguson found Eamonn Bannon in space who managed to bundle the ball into the net to grab United’s second and final goal of the game.
