Glenn Middleton also dropped to the bench, leaving a spot open for Matty Cudjoe, and Ross Graham, who will feel aggrieved after a solid spell acting as deputy, made way for the returning Declan Gallagher.
United started out as the aggressors and looked like they would expect little trouble from their Glasgow visitors. They were dealt a blow after just nine minutes though when an injury forced David Wotherspoon to withdraw in place of Kai Fotheringham.
