Match Report

There were few thrills at Tannadice. The Poles proved no match even for an under strength United, who were able to indulge in fancy stuff without running risks.

United actually scored their 3 goals when a man short. Keeper Brownlie got a knock in a collision and was off half an hour. Fordyce proved an able deputy.

The soldiers had no sharp shooters, and the most elementary offside tactics caught them napping time and again. Wasiewiez their international centre half, defended well, although stop gap smart did not extend him

The crowd would have enjoyed themselves more had Juliussen been there to measure his might against the visiting celebrity. The big English man called off with a bout of flu.

Most of the Polish clever touches came from left half Olebert and outside right Kaminski, but they hadn't a Gardner or a Sibley.

Keeper Piskozub's acrobatics prevented several additions to the scoring sheet in the second half. But he was rather simply beaten when Smart opened United's account.
