Brighter moments in the holiday "friendly" at Dens Park yesterday were provided by two little fellows - Willie Cook and Bobby Gardiner. Cook's cleverness allowed the stronger Dundee attack to establish its superiority in the second half. United forwards lacked snap and did not make the most of Gardiner's craft - one of the best features of a moderately entertaining game.
The first goal was unfortunate for Kemp. He turned a Fraser cross beyond his own 'keeper. Jimmy Easson replied for Dundee and a snapshot by Charlie McGillivray gave them the lead at the interval. United had made a change at the interval, Hutchison and Robertson "swapped" and Cook, carefully attended by the former before then, seemed to relish the change. Hood had many fine saves. Best back in four was Kerr - lusty in his clearances and on occasion keen to have a 'crack'.
Even and interesting to that point, but not so good thereafter. Bewildering moments by Cook brought quick goals - easy chances accepted by Charlie McGillivray and Melville. Bobby Gardiner reduced the lead near the end and with interest gone.
