United recorded a second successive pre-season clean sheet as they finished up the Ireland trip with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Bohemians. A pleasing performance will have left the Manager happy with both defensive and attacking aspects of play.
Named as a trialist, Jiří Lenko, made his first start for the club. Callum Morris and Seán Dillon formed the central defensive partnership again while Stuart Armstrong, Gary Mackay-Steven, Ryan Dow and Nadir Çiftçi took their place in the attacking four.
The game burst to life just before the interval when Ryan Dow opened the scoring. A cross from the right from Nadir Çiftçi allowed Dow an effort similar to that which struck the post in the recent Cup final. This time however his luck was in and his neat flick beat the Bohemians 'keeper from 6 yards after 39 minutes.
Ryan Dow was to win his side a penalty just a minute later after inviting an illegal challenge in the box following a surging run. Nadir Çiftçi was the man to knock home the penalty.
United made four substitutions after an hour of this game and it wasn't long before they went further ahead when Stuart Armstrong struck a shot low into the near corner of the Bohemians goal after being fed in from the left.
There were two further substitutions late in the game before United got the chance of a fourth with a last minute penalty award. Good skill from Erskine ended with a foul on last season's loan man as he weaved toward goal. With Nadir Çiftçi now on the bench, Brian Graham took responsibility and hit the spot kick low and hard to the 'keeper's left to seal the win for United.
