After four successive defeats United were far from confident concerning their visit to Fir Park, despite a good record there. However, after a remarkable and brave display by the ten-man Tannadice side, a point was salvaged. Indeed United took the lead with only 13 minutes remaining when Orjan Persson crossed for Finn Døssing to nod home. But just in the dying minutes Motherwell grabbed the leveller through Joe McBride who hammered home unchallenged.
