Match Report

Dundee United scored their first victory in the North American Soccer League's International cup tournament when they beat Kilmarnock 1-0. United, representing Dallas, overcame the St Louis based Ayrshire side with a second half goal from Davie Wilson. But United only edged to victory after surviving a first-half battering from Kilmarnock, who mounted a succession of raids which were ruined by poor finishing.

Gilmour and Jim McLean wasted good chances and United keeper Donald Mackay was in top form. In the second half Kilmarnock were on the receiving end. The winning goal came after only one minute of the second half when Ian Mitchell fed Davie Wilson, who dribbled past two defenders before shooting past Sandy McLaughlin. United's victory enabled them to exchange bottom place in the table with Killie.
