The team headed south for the one and a quarter hour coach journey to Herning, passing through Viborg, the home of Tannadice legend, Finn Dossing. Two late goals finally subdued the home side as the Tangerines completed their Danish tour with a 100% record. During the early stages, Herning enjoyed the bulk of the play passing up a series of good openings, only to fall behind to United after twelve minutes in their first foray upfield. Jamie McQuilken collected a Dave Bowman free kick out on the left, sending over a well flighted cross to the far post. Rab Shannon met it and knocked it back to Craig Easton who didn't fully connect, but Owen Coyle was on the spot to knock the ball over the line from close range. Herning continued to make and waste scoring opportunities.
Twice Mikklesen was wayward in his finishing when well placed to score and that pattern continued in the second half with Armbrosius being the sinner in front of goal. But United's luck ran out in the 61st minute. A through ball found Claus Christiansen and he ran on to stab home the equaliser past Lance Key, a second half substitute for Ally Maxwell. The Danes fired thereafter and 17 minutes from the end went behind. Marino Keith won possession just inside his opponent's half and made a surging run up the right before releasing a shot-cum-cross which Gary McSwegan converted at the far post. Five minutes later Owen Coyle squeezed in a header at the far post from Jamie McQuilken's left wing corner to ensure victory.
