Without our experienced players, (Ian Redford was the oldest at 27) we collected the Forfarshire Cup in relatively comfortable fashion. Few openings were made in the early stages but once the breakthrough was made the goals flowed, in the 27th minute Dave Bowman slipped the ball to Ian Redford and his curling left foot shot left Charles an on-looker. Two minutes later Dave Bowman was again the architect. His chip found Gary McGinnls who drove the ball low past the keeper. Seven minutes after the break, a cross from Ian Redford was met by Iain Ferguson whose shot was palmed by Charles only to be turned in by substitute Paul Kinnalrd. Four minutes later McInally connected with a low cross from Iain Ferguson to tap in the fourth. In the closing stages John Clark headed a corner down and Iain Ferguson turned the ball past Charles for the fifth. Ian Redford, in the absence of the departed skipper Jim Mclnally, accepted the trophy from Gordon Webster.
