Match report

The first public outing for the first team gave Tannadice fans the opportunity to see one of our close season signings in action as Dave Bowman made his debut. Both the newcomer and the team's display brought satisfaction, particularly as the likes of Jim Mclnally, Eamonn Bannon and Paul Sturrock were missing. The thirty minutes were relatively free of incident as both sides tried to strike a rhythm. However, the best move of the match to date brought the opening goal. Ian Redford initiated the move, with his pass to John Clark, who found Ralph Milne on the right. Ralph's early cross was met by Ian Redford who steered a header into the far post. Just before half time John Clark headed narrowly past from a Ralph Milne cross.

Our attacking momentum continued after the break when Dave Bowman went very close from an Ian Redford lay-off. A second goal wasn't long delayed though. Kevin Gallacher fed Ian Redford, his cross was knocked back across the face of the goal and Ian Redford's powerful downward header beat Scott Thomson in the 52nd minute. The third goal came 12 minutes from time, when Richard Gough won a tussle for the ball, flicked it to Ralph Milne whose cross was headed in by John Clark as he fell backwards. John almost got a second but sent his header just wide.
