Match Report

United picked up another point in the fifth match of their Division Two campaign with a 2-2 draw in Edinburgh against a winless St Bernard's team. It was a story of chances missed for United as once again they gave away the first goal, with Eadie opening for Saints, and it was to be some time before the scores were levelled. St Bernard's goalkeeper Leonard Small, a divinity student at Edinburgh University, showed good fielding, but he was caught well out of position for United's equaliser. Getting on the end of a Johnny Hart pass, Duncan Hutchison bustled past Barton to blast the ball into the net, beyond the reach of Small.

Reaching a Geordie Henderson cross moments later, Hutchison shaved the crossbar with another effort before Hart and Harry Michie sent in tests of their own. "Hutchie" was later forced to leave the field with an injury and while down to ten men, Eadie again secured the lead for Saints. It was just a matter of time before the United centre forward recovered however, and upon his return he scored with a beautiful strike following a solo run, to give United a share of the spoils.
