Match Report

Following on from their midweek Dewar Shield Final defeat, United also slumped to their first league defeat of the season, at Kilbowie Park. Clydebank pestered the United goal from the get go and having missed a chance early on, the Bankies' Thomson eventually opened the scoring after eighteen minutes' play. Shortly before the interval, the same man netted a second.

After the break, Thomson recorded his hat-trick. Amateur forward Campbell for the the home side having worked a clever ball in to the centre. Within minutes of the restart, Thomson scored his fourth, sweeping the ball home following good work from Stirling. United scored a consolation through Jacky Kay late on in the game, heading past Wagner from a Harry Michie corner kick.
