Hibs second visit within three days proved no more rewarding than the previous Saturday. If anything. this was an even more convincing performance with United two ahead by the interval, with Hibs reeling.
It took only nine minutes for us to take the lead, Paul Sturrock flicking in an Eamonn Bannon corner. After failing to convert a series of good chances, the second goal came eight minutes from the interval. Alex Taylor was the instigator, his run down the right ended with the ball being played into the box and Eamonn Bannon's low angular drive gave Rough no chance.
Those goals gave United a comfortable cushion and though Hibs rallied slightly in the second half, the result was never in doubt and Billy Kirkwood hammered in a third near the end to complete a quick double over the Easter Road side.
