After beating leaders Aberdeen we meted out the same dose of medicine to second placed Celtic.
Remarkably, a missed penalty again turned the match. On this occasion Celtic had gone ahead through Tommy Burns in the first half and were awarded a penalty when John Holt's hand diverted a Brian McClair header.
Mo Johnston, however, weakly hit the spot kick and Hamish McAlpine save low to his left hand post. Almost immediately Eamonn Bannon hit just wide and ten minutes later United equalised.
Stuart Beedie won the ball in midfleld, passed to Richard Gough whose through bail was belted past Bonner by Paul Sturrock. Seven minutes later Richard Gough, for the second game running, headed in an Eamonn Bannon free kick to end another unbeaten home record.
