Match Report
Yet again a Rangers victory escaped United's clutches. Up until the time when Rangers scored through Dave Mitchell in the 27th minute, the Ibrox men had been the better side. Following that reversal United stepped up their game and produced a second half onslaught on the visitors' goal.
Paul Sturrock equalised when he stole in behind the Rangers' defence and controlled a long distance through ball by Richard Gough before slipping the ball past McCloy. Then came the controversy. A Davie McPherson own goal was chalked off and a blistering Dave Narey goal was also disallowed. Presumably for offside infringements.
