Match Report
It would be understating the case to say that the outcome of our latest cup demise at the hands of the Ibrox side was a disappointment. The dank dismal weather was in keeping with a match which rarely entertained the 45,000 or so fans at Hampden or the live television audience.
There was an early blow when Ralph Milne limped out of the match. The first half appeared to be petering out with no goals and few chances when Rangers carved out an opening which Iain Ferguson executed with a shot which went just inside Hamish McAlpine's left-hand post on the stroke of half-time.
The period immediately after the interval was United's best with Eamonn Bannon setting up a couple of chances but there were no takers. A late flurry failed to secure an equaliser.
