Match Report

A Ray Stewart hat-trick helped United to a 4-0 win over Burma National team in Hiroshima and paved the way to the semi-finals of the Japan Cup tournament. United's only change from the first game was the inclusion of Frank Kopel for Paul Sturrock.

Davie Dodds set United on their way to victory after 15 minutes of the game played in temperatures touching 85 degrees. It was a first half that had the 2500 fans witnessing some violent play from the Burmese as they struggled to cope with United's pace and power.

Paul Sturrock replaced Derek Addison prior to the start of the second half. Ray Stewart's goals all came in the second half of the game, his first from a free-kick and the other two coming from the penalty spot. United could have won even more convincingly, with Davie Dodds hitting the post and both Derek Addison and Billy Kirkwood missing sitters.
