Match report

There was a distinct impression of deja vu about this latest Tynecastte set back. Apart from the fact that Hearts have made a nasty habit of picking up both points from us in the Capital, more often than not we have descented at least a point and this match certainly fell into the same category. In fact in the first half we created enough chances to have won the match, but the promise of that opening period evaporated after the break, though goalmouth incident thereafter was scarce at either end.

The contest had the look of a goalless draw written all over it until eight minutes from time. A corner was cleared out as far as Levein and when he returned a cross into the box, Graeme Hogg sent a diving header into the bottom left hand corner. Before the end, van de Ven was lucky to escape with only a booking for deliberate hand ball as Jim McInally threatened to break clear.
