Match Report

There was a shock for United when Ayr United were the visitors in what was very much a clash between top and bottom dogs.

In keeping with the form book, we took the lead through a hard rising Paul Sturrock shot in the ninth minute. There was a rude shock for us two minutes before half-time when Walker McCall headed an equaliser, after total dominance by us.

There was even greater consternation when Danny Masterton put Ayr ahead! Despite incessant pressure on the Somerset goal it took United until the 85th minute to find a way through the visitor's defensive barrier. Henry Hall cut the ball back for Gordon Wallace to stab the ball home. A point was less than we deserved for all our pressure but that was ali that we had at the finish of the match.
