Match Report

United travelled to Pittodrie looking for a confidence boosting win before the second leg Fairs Cup meeting with Sparta Prague. Instead, United were left feeling as blue as the unusual Dons strip! Conditions were treacherous in an relatively evenly contested first half, but the home side edged in front a minute before the interval when Davie Robb headed in a Forest corner after Harper had flicked it on. In the second half, Aberdeen demonstrated why they were title challengers, scoring a brilliant goal in the 63rd minute when Steve Murray netted a chip back into the middle from McMillan. Nine minutes from the end Joe Harper hammered home a Murray cross and a minute from the end, Harper latched on to Graham's pass to rocket in a fourth. This wasn't so much a case of United being bad, as the Dons firing on all cylinders, especially in the second half.
