Neither keeper had a lot to do though Eamonn Bannon struck the top of the bar in the 29th minute, three minutes after Jim Mclnally had hit the outside of the post at the other end. Our cause wasn't helped by the loss of two players through injury. Allan Preston was injured five minutes before half-time after a Kidd tackle and Raphael Meade was stretched off after falling heavily in the box.

Hearts did have the ball in the net after seven minutes but Walter Kidd was penalised for climbing as he headed in a cross. Conversely we were denied a penalty when substitute Kevin Gallacher appeared to have been brought down in the box.

As you have gathered this was not a game which warmed the chilled spectators on the Tynecastle slopes, but a point at Tynecastle is not to be sneezed at, particularly when we didn't play well.
