Match Report

The game at Alloa was rousing one which would have done credit to a cup final United, after being two goals down at half-time, came away strongly after the restart, and within ten minutes were on level terms. Court opened the scoring for the visitors in ten minutes, but their lead was shortlived. Two minutes later Alloa equalised when shot by Mackie was deflected into his own goal by Ross. Alloa went ahead soon after, when Willox netted from close range, following a rebound from the crossbar. Ten minutes later the home centre again counted. Half a minute after the resumption a short pass back by Frew was intercepted by Crothers who netted. A few minutes later Willox was brought down in the box, but Gordon sent the spot kick into the keeper's hands. Next minute, at the other end. Crothers scored a smart goal level the scores. Alloa were best served by Savage, Rowan, Mackie and Willox. United players to catch the eye were Simpson, Ogilvie, Smart and Crothers.
