Match Report

United's last match of the season meant absolutely nothing with a Fairs Cup place having already been assured with fifth place in the First Division already confirmed.

Dunfermline had enjoyed an unusually unhappy term - but their display that night saw the Fifers end it on a particularly high note. Former Dens Parker George McLean turned out to be their match-winner with a couple of early goals to establish the pattern for the night, Ian Scott did manage to pull one back before the break for the men in tangerine, but there was only going to be one winner of this clash.

Even a spirited second forty-five minute by United failed to halt the Pars. Another former Dark Blue, Hugh Robertson, grabbed the third which sealed United's fate.
