For the match against already relegated St Mirren, Christian Dailly returned to the first team for the first time in six months, resuming his partnership with Duncan Ferguson upfront. St Mirren started brightly enough, but soon fell away in a match played in the ghostly atmosphere created by the sparsely filled terraces. It was, however, the Tangerines who took the lead with 19 minutes on the clock Dave Narey's long ball out of defence was knocked down by Christian Dailly to John O'Neil and though Fridge palmed away John's shot after he had cut inside from the left, Duncan Ferguson was on hand to complete the simple task of knocking the ball into the empty net. We continued to be the more direct side and Alex Cleland and Christian Dailly both had shots which whistled just past.
A similar trend evolved after the interval, with John O'Neil highly prominent and unlucky not to score after a mazy run carried him past three defenders, but he dragged his final shot just wide of the post. So we bode farewell to Love Street for at least a season with a victory and you know our record there isn't half as bad as people make out. This latest success meant we had only lost once in our last nine Premier visits to Paisley.
