In two minutes United won three successive corners much to the delight of the home fans who are singing their hearts out behind the goal. United miss a great opportunity to take the lead when a Miller corner was headed straight at Roccati by Licina. Two minutes later Combe saved well from Caniggia. Beto Naveda looked a classy player who could inflict damage on Dundee had he recieved better service. Superb defending from Buchan cleared the danger for United in 38 minutes and immediately set up an attack. In 39 minutes United lost a goal against the run of play. Falconer held off Buchan to thread a pass to Claudio Caniggia who then beat Combe with a low shot into the corner of the net. In the last minute of the half De Marchi was shown the yellow card for felling Naveda on the run.
Both teams resisted the temptation to make changes at half time. United looked eager and went into attack straight away. Jamie Buchan ran on a superb mazy but Dundee’s defenders ganged up on him and the move fizzled out. United had a chance in 58 minutes when Atangana teed up Hannah who then shot well wide. One minute later a powerful header from Hannah went just over after great work and cross from Aljofree. In 74 minutes United lost another goal when Georgi Nemsadze ran through and as Combe came out to meet him, he chipped the ball over the keeper and into the net. In the last minute there was a double booking as Hugh Dallas cautioned Partridge and Carranza.
